Americans Pay More for Broadband Internet!
The broadband market in E.E.U.U. is dominated by the | Graph 1A? â technology of cable: The penetration of broadband technology in 2007per in 2007, broadband penetration in the United States totaled 23.3%, equivalent to the EU15 average. What qualifies as the banda ancha varies from one country to another. While broadband is in the United States is defined as a line that exceeds 200 Kbps in at least one direction (against the current down the river), Europe in a line of broadband access means the date on downstream access 512 Kbps. cable goes on to explain more than half (52%) broadband access via cable networks against 42% for ADSL and 6% for other technologies. Consequently, the penetration of ADSL is a mere 9.7% due to the lack of regulation and desmontonar its highly complex implementation. This weakness stems from the lack of  desmontonamiento regulator with respect to the scope of the definition of effective? s (FCC) of? Commission of the communication of the federation of the network elements to be included in desmontonamiento and leaving the final decision through each zone to the local regulatory agencies and the holder.   This complex serves as a barrier to entry for new entrants, thereby preventing the appropriate conditions for the competition. Consequently, a number of states have established a duopoly market through which the cable operator and supplier of ADSL (an ISP) are both offshoots of the local owner. At the end, in many rural areas, the number of suppliers that provide ADSL services are limited to one. In the United Kingdom, however, alternative operators can access the network? s of? the incumbent, BT, via the bit stream for selling their own offers. Finally, across the U.S., the number of lines desmontonadas amount 1.3 million, or 9.9%, which is relatively low compared to other European countries (see Figure 3).  Graph 3a: The percentage of lines in desmontonadas total market alinea 2006In the order in France or Germany, the number of total lines desmontonadas respectively 37.1% and 29.5% of ADSL lines. The same figure in E.E.U.U. is 14.5% pure. To accelerate desmontonando, the FCC loosened regulations in terms of shared infrastructure and is encouraging the emergence of new technologies. For now, however, the barrier to entry into the American broadband market affects prices in the U.S. there are still top compared to European standards.
